Hurricane force winds of up to 100 mph battered parts of the country, adding to the chaos already caused by some of the worst flooding ever seen in the UK. Al-Imdaad Foundation UK in fidelity to the organisation’s motto of striving to serve humanity, reached out to countless flood victims across the country. Due to howling winds of over 100mph, areas of Cumbria were the first to be issued with a ‘danger to life’ red alert warning with some houses
flooded to over three metres and electric power to thousands of homes cut off. Transport networks had also been completely disrupted by the hurricane-force winds. In response to the disaster, Al-Imdaad Foundation UK worked closely with local emergency authorities including the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to respond quickly and provide support to the affected families.
