East Lancashire based charity organisation Al-Imdaad Foundation UK have been working closely with Blackpool Football Club and have delivered a new Defibulator machine which will help save lives.

Abdussamad Mulla, Country director of Al-Imdaad Foundation mentions “After months of negotiations with the club and after hearing of the sad news of Melissa who sadly passed away, we wanted to help and try to avoid such cases in the future.  As part of our global medical projects we immediately responded and have now delivered the Defibulator machine which will help save lives.”

Parent representative, Nick Salthouse stated “BFC Girls and Ladies have been in operation since 2004 covering 8 squads between the age groups from development right through to open age Ladies. The majority of the squads play their home games at Cottam Hall, Poulton and that is where we have located our newly donated Defibulator which was kindly provided
by the Al-Imdaad Foundation UK.

Assurance that the club now has this equipment to administer vital 1st Aid treatment should any of the Blackpool girls or visiting teams experience a dangerous arrhythmia or cardiac arrest. When a person is in cardiac arrest, time is of the essence and when considering it can take several minutes for an emergency responder to arrive on the scene this piece of equipment can make a vital difference. Mere minutes can be the difference between full recovery, and death or permanent damage. For this reason, a portable Defibulator is a key piece of equipment in any emergency response kit.

This was highlighted no more definitely in October 2014 when Melissa Smith, playing for Cadley FC collapsed on the pitch in a match against Euxton Girls FC U16s, in Greenside, Lancashire. On behalf of Blackpool FC Girls and Ladies I cannot thank
the Al-Imdaad Foundation UK enough for this truly compassionate charitable donation.”

Al-Imdaad Foundation recently delivered a new Dialysis X-Ray Machine at Royal Blackburn Hospital
worth £20,000 and are currently working with Dementia UK in London.
