The Al-Imdaad Foundation UK is helping to raise awareness by supporting a charity that focuses on those that suffer with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

OCD Action is the largest national charity, received a donation from Al-Imdaad Foundation UK to continue providing support in a number of ways from forums and helplines to support groups. They have a team of volunteers, trustees and staff that are dedicated to making a real and lasting difference to those that are affected by OCD.

Al-Imdaad Foundation UK in partnership with OCD Action aims to highlight some of the startling facts of OCD which is a clinically recognised disorder affecting 1% - 2% of the population.  At a recent event in London, attended by Abdul Ahad who handed over a cheque said “The World Health Organisation has actually ranked OCD in the top ten of the most debilitating and disabling disorder of any kind”. “I came to know about the work of OCD Action through my friend at work Kelly Furzur. She was fundraising for the charity and is planning to complete the gruelling challenge of cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats”.

Kelly Furzur who was present at the handover ceremony in London said “This is a disorder that I have become very familiar with recently as someone close to me was diagnosed with the severe type of OCD known as 'Pure O'. I never realised just how serious this disorder was until I was confronted, it's alarming”.

The ethos of Al-Imdaad Foundation UK is striving to serve humanity. Abdul Ahad explains “As a UK registered charity we want to support and encourage more UK based projects so our fellow UK citizens can also benefit and have a positive impact on their lives”.  “Some of the UK projects involve responding to the Somerset floods, supporting food banks and regular feeding schemes for the homeless throughout the UK”.
