Assisting Palestinian Refugees
In August 2012, the Al-Imdaad Foundation UK and Australian Teams visited Jordan to assist the Syrian and Palestinian refugees. We made an initial assessment of the need on the ground, which showed hundreds of thousands of refugees in need of food, medical aid and winter warmth.
The Al-Imdaad teams were prompted to respond by fundraising and raise awareness of the dire need and situation on the ground.
With support from Viva Palestina (Coventry Rd, Birmingham, UK) and other organisations such as Islamic Da’wah Academy (Leicester, UK) and Jaame Masjid (Blackburn, UK), the Al-Imdaad Foundation with its 5 International offices responded by launching a winter warmth appeal and Medical Aid campaign.
Alhamdulillah the response from the donors from around the world was exceptional and this enabled us to assist over 50,000 refugees with free medical aid, continuous food distribution and blankets for winter through our Al-Imdaad Jordan office.
Additionally, on a daily basis the Jordan Al-Imdaad office continually supports the Tahfeez ul Quran project where 30 orphans are taught the Quran and education of high standards. The institute also supports 200 more students from Palestine.
Our office also supports the Gaza Disability and Medical centre in Jarash, 30km away from Palestine. At the disability centre currently there are 259 Palestinian disabled orphans fully funded by the Al-Imdaad Foundation. More than 500 disabled refugees also need assistance and help on a daily basis.
In March 2013, the Al-Imdaad Foundation UK team implemented the project physically in person following the key practice of our organization to work hand in hand. Members from the UK team Hafez Abdussamad Mulla & Zubair Valimulla made the challenging journey and delivered aid to the most deprived and needy Palestinian refugees. The UK team purchased and installed high-tech state of the art IT equipment to help facilitate and educate the orphans at the Soof Camp and the Tahfeez ul Quran Institute.
Following on, the team distributed 1200 blankets to the Palestinian refugees and the disabled orphans as the winter season still lingers.
The team then travelled to the disability centre at the Gaza camp, where 18 staff wages were funded to look after 259 deprived and disabled Palestinian orphans. This included the care and nourishment of numerous orphans suffering from various types of deformations within their body and mental ability. Truly one of the most emotional and heart rendering days our team has ever witnessed.
Here we supplied 3 months of food for the Palestinians in the Gaza camp.
